Albert Square and nine city centre sites
A medieval square, a tree since 1441 and glögi under the gables.
Checked against the organiser in October 2026. The official site is the authoritative source.
Tallinn claims the first public Christmas tree in Europe, on this square in 1441, and the market around it is small, candlelit and surrounded by the merchant houses of the Hanseatic Old Town. It runs into January, which makes the city a good New Year destination. Advent events spread to Kadriorg and the Telliskivi quarter.
The local specialty: Verivorst and sauerkraut, the Estonian Christmas plate, and the tree on the square, one of Europe's oldest traditions.
One hour with your host and a small tasting of the local specialty, from EUR 69 per person. Company evenings run two hours with tastings and a table to finish. How the hour works
Your host meets you on the Town Hall Square, walks you through the market with a glögi and a plate of verivorst, then through the Old Town lanes up to Toompea for the view over the roofs and the sea, with the stories of the Hanseatic city and of the Estonian Christmas, from the tree to the sauna on Christmas Eve.
Your host is a Tallinn local from the LocalBini network who knows the Old Town, the market on the square and the Estonian Christmas customs.
Within a day you hear back with the host, the meeting point and the price for your group.
