Albert Square and nine city centre sites
Switzerland's largest market, on two squares below the Minster.
Checked against the organiser in October 2026. The official site is the authoritative source.
Basel's market is spread over Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz, with the big pyramid on one and the Minster above the other, and a children's fairy tale forest in between. Theaterplatz adds the Wienachtsdorf with its chalets into January, and the Rheingasse in Kleinbasel has its own Advent street. The Old Town is compact and all of it is on foot.
The local specialty: Basler Läckerli, the honey and spice biscuit Basel has baked since the Middle Ages.
One hour with your host and a small tasting of the local specialty, from CHF 69 per person. Company evenings run two hours with tastings and a table to finish. How the hour works
Your host meets you on Barfüsserplatz, walks you through the market with a Glühwein at the pyramid, up to Münsterplatz and the Minster terrace over the Rhine, down through the Old Town lanes and across the Middle Bridge to Kleinbasel's Adväntsgass, with Läckerli, raclette and the stories of Basel's guilds, its Fasnacht and its Christmas traditions.
Your host is a Basel local from the LocalBini network who knows the market on both squares and the Old Town around it.
Within a day you hear back with the host, the meeting point and the price for your group.
